Aviation on the River Medway - Thurs 5th December 2013
A talk by James Preston
Kent has a long association with aviation dating back to its pioneering days. The Short Brothers, in particular, were early innovators and their factory in Rochester produced some memorable aircraft, especially the giant flying boats which many people can still remember moored on the Medway.
The talk will begin at 7.30pm at the Bull Inn, Lower Road, East Farleigh, £2.50 on the door and everyone welcome.

A Kent Christmas - an illustrated talk with readings & songs - Thurs 1st Dec 2011

For this our last meeting for the year, we are lucky to have Geoff Doel and Mick Lynn who will give us an illustrated talk with readings, songs and visual images of A Kent Christmas.
Geoff is a lecturer on literature and cultural studies and Mick is a singer, musician and mummer so we can look forward to a suitably festive evening with refreshments provided.
Starting at 7.30pm in the Function Room at The Bull, Lower Road, East Farleigh.
All are welcome at £2.50 on the door and members free.
The History of Dreamland - an illustrated talk by Nick Evans - Thurs 15th Sept 2011
We are lucky to have Nick Evans giving an illustrated talk on The History of Dreamland - the story of Margate's Amusement Park and the Cliftonville Lido.
Clothes & Customs from Cradle to Grave - talk by Lee Ault - Thurs 9th June 2011
We are pleased to welcome Lee Ault again and this time she will be giving a talk on clothes and customs from the Cradle to the Grave - births, marriages and mourning and will bring clothes and items of interest with her.
'The Battle of Britain Over Kent' : A talk by Dr John Ray - Thurs 10th March 2011
The talk on the Battle of Britain Over Kent will be followed by a short AGM.
The full programme for the year will be distributed then and because we were unable to have our December meeting due to the snow, we will be arranging an extra talk this year.
As a one off this event will be held at The Old Church Hall, Lower Road, East Farleigh (next to East Farleigh Church) at 7.30pm. Parking is available in front of the hall.

CANCELLED DUE TO SNOW - We hope to rearrange for next Christmas.
We are lucky to have Mick Lynn and Geoff Doel to give us an illustrated talk with slides and music on 'A Kent Christmas'. Mick and Geoff are well known musicians and will be entertaining us with stories and songs about the way Christmas has been celebrated in Kent through the centuries.

Simon Elliott presented an illustrated talk on the Roman Settlement of the Medway Valley which was followed by seasonal refreshments and a quiz
Rationed Fashion : A Talk by Lee Ault - Monday 16th November 2009
Lee entertained us last year with 'The Undercover Story - a history of underwear' and this year will be giving us a talk on 'Rationed Fashion' - clothes of the 1940's. Lee brings along a wonderful collection of authentic clothes to illustrate this.
The History of Cornells of Maidstone - Thur 10th September 2009

A speaker from Cornells of Maidstone will be bringing some exhibits and talking about the long history of the company in the town from 1796 to the present day.
The meeting will be in the Bull, Lower Road, East Farleigh, starting at 7.30pm.
All are welcome with Members free or £2.50 on the door.
