Forge Lane Footpath - DONE!

Blind bend on Forge Lane causes danger to pedestrians

A local landowner has generously granted a right of way for a footpath along the northern edge of Forge Lane and we have been fund raising for construction of a footpath.

After nine years campaigning Forge Lane action Group (FLAG), East Farleigh is celebrating the construction of their community footpath. The campaign has brought the village together for some great social occasions including wine and wisdom evenings, a gig night and the reinstatement of the village fete. Now Kent County Council has worked with FLAG to build a safe public footpath for pedestrians including local children to walk safely to school.

FLAG is inviting villagers to join in the celebrations as they officially open the footpath and host a Footpath Party on Saturday 24th April.

Martin Curd, Chairman of FLAG said, “ The footpath is brilliant, it really has connected the village, opening up a wonderful vista across the valley and making it a much safer route for residents and visitors. The project has proved that if a community works together towards one goal it can be achieved and you can have fun doing it.”

The party will begin with a champagne launch at the Walnut Tree, Forge Lane from 4.30pm, a springtime stroll down Forge Lane from 6.00pm and a fish and chip supper and barn dance with ceilidh band ‘Flaming Great’ at East Farleigh Primary School from 7.00pm.
